My favorite website is www.thechive.com. I have been a big follower of this website since it's debut in 2009. I have watched this website grow from being supported by a small group of grass root fans to being 'liked' on Facebook by over 200,000 people.
There has been a direct correlation between the amount of advertisement found on the chive and the amount of fans. As the fans have increased the website has become peppered with random advertisements.
Major advertisements (facebook, upcoming blockbuster movies) to smaller companies (old spice) and even major global corporations (fox) can all be found on the chive. When the chive first opened it prided itself on have little to no advertisements. Obviously advertisements have been added to help contribute to the massive amount of traffic the website now receives. I enjoy the way that the chive positions its advertisements. All advertisements are added to fit the theme of the chive and they normally blend perfectly. Only the videos cause a problem (they often make you wait 30 seconds before watching)
